Menorca North Coast

Routes in Menorquina from Fornells along the North Coast

Even if you have already taken a boat trip along the south coast of Menorca, a boat route along the north coast is worth.

Depending on the sea and wind conditions, the captain of the Portobello will decide whether it is better to sail east or west. Don't worry because in both directions there are beautiful landscapes and beaches.

On the north coast you can see different landscapes from the south coast (higher cliffs, less vegetation) and see very spectacular beaches:

Snorkel at the Minorcan Marine Reserve

One of the advantages of sailing along the north coast of Menorca is that the Minorcan marine reserve is located there. This means that the area is more protected and therefore there is more diversity of flora and fauna.

Places of Interest on the Route to the East

  • Cabra Salada: a micro cove in the Fornells Bay
  • Cala Pudent: very small coves right next to the Arenal of Son Saura
  • Savinar de Mongofra: a spectacular beach surrounded by cliffs, very difficult to access on foot.
  • Arenalet de s'Enclusa: small beach next to Mongofra where there are usually few people in summer (there are boats).

Places of Interest on the Route to the West

  • Cala Viola: a small group of 3 coves next to the Cavalleria lighthouse
  • Cavalleria Lighthouse: you can see the highest cliffs of Menorca from the sea.
  • Cala Pregonda: Menorca's most famous beach is just a few minutes' away of sailing from Fornells
  • Cala Cavalleria: my favourite area for snorkelling
